"Bringing up a family should be an adventure, not an anxious discipline in which everybody is constantly graded for performance."
- Milton R. Saperstein
We didn't get to implement our cool summer schedule this past week. I originally wrote a long detailed post about everything that happened, but it was way too full of negativity and that isn't really what I want to focus on. To put simply, we were bombarded with a bunch of family commitments that we were not aware of until last minute. Hubby and I have since had a conversation and agree that from n--++ow on, if we are not notified about something until last minute, we will just let people know that we cannot make it.
Other fun things that happened this week were spending time outside with my girls, getting our new kitty (a stray that was living under an acquaintances porch), and celebrating our 4 yr anniversary. David and I went away for the first time ever - only for one night, but it is a start! We both agreed to totally over indulge while away - so we enjoyed delicacies such as calamari, rotolo, chocolate covered strawberries, cannoli, old fashioned ice cream (if you are EVER in Mt. Prospect, you must go to Capannari's), and champagne. We consumed enough calories in the 22 hours we were away from home to last us 3 days, but it was totally worth it.
Since I didn't want to post all about failure, I forced myself to go to the gym today (it helped that the vet is right next door to the gym and I had to drop off a stool sample from the new kitty, so I was already right there). I spent 35 minutes on the elliptical and did a few sets on the weight machines - not my typical workout, but a good start after the 2 week break I had from the gym. Tomorrow, swim lessons!
