This will be short and sweet this week because I'm leaving in an hour to go to the IL Music Educators Association conference in Peoria! My husband and I are so lucky to be able to attend this conference together and with friends and colleagues every year and we always look forward to it! We learn a lot and get recharged for the rest of the school year. I feel like training this week has left me mentally feeling the same way. However, my body is tired, though. I did a 6 mile run last Saturday and apparently went at one of my fastest paces and then we went roller skating for 2 hours. The next day I didn't really exercise, but I went bowling and played darts which used some muscles I was not used to using. Then with 3 days in a row of running and I snuck some yoga in one of the days, my lower body is noticeably tired. Fool me not, Hal Higdon and your Novice 1 training plan! I know that the mileage is not the only challenge to this whole thing. It is the RESTING that will be a challenge as well. I hate not exercising when I can and have the time. But I know I need to rest in order for my body to recoup and get stronger. So today, even though I will be in the car for 3 hours and sitting during sessions, I am not exercising. I'd have to start right this second anyways and I would be running around like crazy trying to be on time to leave so there you have it!
I hardly lost anything this week, but I'm not worried. It's been a great few weeks of losing before today. The challenge will be to stay away from the free cheesecake at this conference. That's right, I said FREE CHEESECAKE!! They're pretty small slices and one or two won't kill me, but I promise that the cheesecake guy will NOT know me by name by the end of the weekend!
