What I DID accomplish in 2013:
*made our house pretty damn corn free (still not perfect, but a vast improvement)
*started a new career as a Pure Romance consultant - which seems to be the ideal job for me! I have loved every minute of it, have been relatively successful at it, and have been told by several of my hostesses that I was made for this job!
*went to Walt Disney World on our family vacation and had a blast! There were a few hiccups with the meal plan and my daughter, but we made the best of it and have learned for future trips.
*fell in love with myself! Yup, you read that right. I have spent years trying to be what others think I should be - thinner, better dressed, more 'normal', etc. and it really just doesn't work for me. I am quirky, weird, a bit geeky, sometimes offensive, and often blunt - but I am me and there are people that know and love me BECAUSE of these things. I finally decided to do things that I have wanted to do for years but didn't want to deal with the backlash from others and I have been SO MUCH HAPPIER because of it.
Well, I love the community and support I receive from the Getting There group! We all have different goals and personalities, but the world would be so boring if everyone was the same. This group of folks really cares about one another and it can truly make a difference when you are struggling to know that you have someone to lean on.
2014 Goals
*Lift weights 3 times a week - I have been lifting on and off for over a year, but I want to see where my strengths/weaknesses are go from there.
*4 hours of cardio each week - doesn't matter if I do a little each day or do longer sessions a few times each week, just like to keep the blood flowing.
*Cut back on eating out - Hubby says he is on board with this, so we will see. Last year we did good for awhile and then fell back into old habits. Not only is eating out extremely expensive (and we already have a huge food budget due to our daughter's food allergy), but most of it tastes awful. There are not a lot of options for restaurants by us, so when we eat out it is pizza, burgers, or some other fried food. I am all for the occasional meal out (especially to Chuck's Southern Comfort Cafe, Carson's Ribs, or Little Three Happiness), but it should be reserved for places worthy of my taste buds and pocketbook.
*Spend more time with my husband. This sounds odd since we live together and spend lots of time in the same vicinity, but most of the time we are doing our own thing (he watches tv while I am on the computer, he is playing with the kids while I do the dishes, I am sewing while he is gaming, etc). We hope to get in a WHOPPING 2 dates each month - last year we had maybe 4 dates all year.
*Spend more 1 on 1 time with my girls. I spend all day with the kids - home schooling, carting to lessons, playing, reading, etc. It is what I am supposed to do as a mom. However, both girls love 'mommy time' alone and don't get nearly enough of it - so I am setting my sights high when I say I would like to get 2 hours of 1 on 1 time with each girl every week.
*Build up my business. I started up with _Pure Romance in July and have been having a great run with it, but I am looking forward to taking some new training classes, sponsoring other consultants, and gaining new customers. Pure Romance isn't really well known in the Chicagoland area, and a lot of women have some pretty negative preconceived notions about what it is the company stands for, so I definitely have my work cut out for me!
*Complete every last mile of the 2014 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago. This will be my 4th year participating in this amazing event as a walker. I plan to continue participating as a volunteer in future years, but I am going to be taking a few years off from being a walker due to the fundraising commitment (because raising that much money is a full time job).
