That's right, hubby and I survived the entire week of the cleanse phase and nobody got hurt! I suffered a horrible headache (caffeine withdrawal) for the first few days and endured some stomach issues, but by the end of the week I felt almost normal. While we survived the first week together, it was only because he worked from home every day and we ate like clockwork - this won't work on a consistent basis, though, so we agreed on some guidelines. First off, during the 8 week challenge, there are supposed to be NO cheat meals - but with upcoming weddings, the Avon Walk, and a chocolate walk I am doing as part of a Mother's Day gift - that isn't practical. So, instead, we agreed that if we had to go off plan on occasion, we wouldn't beat ourselves up about it and would just get back to it the next meal.
Yesterday, we started phase 2 of the challenge, which is called ignite. I already feel 100% better since it means I don't have to take any cleansing supplements - and I got a full night sleep for the first time in a week. We ended up going off plan yesterday because we had an open house and had to be gone for several hours (during which was our scheduled meal times). I think we did relatively well, we skipped getting sides and only ate half of our food. Perfect? NOPE. Better than we normally eat? Hell yeah! Today, I started off well with breakfast, but decided to eat chicken noodle soup with Autumn (homemade) for lunch. I should have stopped at one bowl, but I didn't, and now I am paying for it with a terrible stomachache. Eventually, my brain and stomach will get on the same page but it appears more than one week is needed.
So, after a week of the cleanse diet, how did I do with me weigh in? 248.7lbs - so OVER ten pounds lost in one week. We expect to gain a bit back this week since we are now able to incorporate a bit more food selection and exercise (YAY!), but as long as we are diligent we know it won't be much. Hubby has lost over fifteen pounds in one week and both he and I now have saggy pants. We have a wedding to go to on Sunday, so I plan on waiting until Friday to determine what we are wearing since if he keeps it up this week he will already need new pants.
This week, the goal is to get into a regular habit of exercise for BOTH of us. Tonight, we plan on going to the YMCA together to work out for the first time in several months (I go regularly alone). Tomorrow morning I have Group Active class and tomorrow night I have a workout group I am meeting with for the first time, and I know I will go because a friend is coming with for moral support. I am hoping to walk with my former trainer some night this week, since exercising together to catch up is a better idea than stuffing ourselves full of Mexican food (which is what we did last time), and we have yet to work out the rest of the week. I will admit, it is 100% easier to do this in partnership with my hubby than it ever was to do it alone, but I wish he suffered cravings like I do. He has no sweet tooth. AT ALL. I, on the other hand, have had dreams of carrot cake and truffles over the past week. I really miss my sweets and am looking forward to wedding cake - even if it means my weigh in doesn't go as well. Everything in moderation.
Weigh In History:
Starting Weight - 261.0
End of week one - 248.7
Total lost to date = 12.3
