Ok shoes: One week from today, you will take me 26.2 miles. You have never taken me that far before, but I know that you are ready for the challenge.
Ok body: You've been training for 17 weeks now. You have gotten up early before the sun to eat and stretch to be ready for your long runs in the wind and snow. You have sacrificed evenings out so that you could be well-rested for these early morning runs. We've learned about how to properly fuel and hydrate you so that we didn't suffer from migraines and were able to function the rest of the day after 10+ miles. You've gotten stronger, leaner and learned to embrace all of the challenges I've put you through. Back in January when we started this crazy journey, our mind and heart were not always so sure about it. But body, you were patient, persistent and you ADAPTED to the training schedule. As the mileage increased, so did your stamina. You've floored me with all you've accomplished these 17 weeks.
Ok mind and heart: Don't screw this up! Your body and shoes have gotten you this far, don't come between them and greatness! You have totally got this!
Next Sunday, May 18: It'll be the day of the race, y'all! Chicagoland Spring Marathon Can't wait to share the course with my awesome hubby and run the race with the fab Melissa! Second stop as The Running Depot's ambassador! Wish me luck and tune in next week for the race recap! Have a fabulous week and thanks so much for reading!
