I want to figure out what was working for me. Remember my post a few posts ago where I was lamenting my 6 year struggle and why wasn't anything working? Well, we decided that for two weeks (ending this past week), I'd stop obsessing, I'd stop overly worrying, and I'd just live my life, weigh myself each day, and see what happens and where I ended up. And I ended up exactly the same as before; 163.0.
So, with minimal to no effort, no tracking, eating when I'm hungry, not getting more than average activity in, I maintain. So when I've put in minimal effort, track, and get just average activity for the past 6 years, which explains why nothing is happening. I need to make a change. I'm realizing that something more than always drinking enough water and tracking all my food is needed for my weight to change.
So, I looked back. About 15 years ago, I successfully did Weight Watchers by myself, and I found my old paper journal recently thru the process of cleaning and purging, and took a look. The major difference is that I ate 3 meals a day. That's it. No snacking. Three solid, healthy, filling meals a day. There is always new science, new studies; eggs are good for us, eggs are bad for us, eggs are the miracle superfood, stuff like that. With all the different changes and ideas and notions out there, I think going back to what worked for me may work. Yes, I'm not 15 years younger. Yes, I'm much more stressed these days (no job and all). But if it worked for ME once, I should try it again and see, right?
So for the next 30 days, I'm going to eat three squares a day. No snacking. Drink all my water. Track it all of course. And get a bit more than average activity in. I know I'll be huuuuungry for a week or more, but I also know that that will fade. I'm feeling good about having a plan, and am so thankful that I have "Getting There" for support, guidance, and idea bouncing.
Here we gooo . . . . . .
