It's hard to believe, but I had another really good week on the scale... I'm happy to report that I lost 3.5 pounds this week, for a total of 19.6 pounds lost since I started Getting There (and 96.4 pounds lost overall- just 3.6 pounds to go until I hit my big milestone).
3/1/12 247.2
Pounds lost doing SpireSpire: 78.1
Pounds lost in March: .7
Pounds lost in April: 3.5
Pounds lost in May: 7.0
6/1/13 157.9
6/8/13 158.3
6/16/13 156.7
6/23/13 154.3
6/30/13 150.8
:
I think I can directly attribute the consistent losses lately to getting back on track with my water-drinking the last two weeks, because nothing else has changed. Much as I loathe it, I see a huge difference when I'm drinking a minimum of 75 ounces a day.

Speaking of water- I got brave enough to wear a two piece bathing suit to a water park on Thursday! I tried it on just to see how close I was to being ready to wear it, and Chris walked in while I was taking a look, and he seemed to think it looked okay. Of course, love is blind and he probably would've told me that 95 pounds ago. But I know he wasn't faking his approval because after a few minutes, I changed my mind and went to put my frumpy, down-to-my-knees one-piece on, and he actually made a sad little noise. It is very unlike him to express a preference in my clothing, so I decided to take his word for it and wear the two piece.
I also discovered that I own a cute little bathing suit coverup! I've had it for years and always assumed it was a skirt with a sort of weird waistband that had lots of extra fabric. But nope, it's meant to be worn over a bathing suit, which is exactly how I used it while walking through the parking lot and into the waterpark.

And when it was time to lose the coverup and get in the water, after a few moments of insecurity, it was fine! Of course the first twenty girls in bikinis I saw were perfectly shaped high schoolers with completely flat abs, and I started to feel a little panic-y. But then I saw plenty of other women who looked a lot like me, and even some who were much larger, comfortable and happy and looking completely at easy with their curvy selves. So I decided to relax. It helped that no one pointed and laughed at my little tummy.
It was a great day: floating down the lazy river, feet interwoven with Chris's and Natalie's... going down some really great slides (but more importantly, being able to climb up the stairs to get to their entrances without any real difficulty)... napping on a lounge chair while the two of them played on Skull Island, getting a proper sunburn, and enjoying a snack-sized McFlurry on the way home!
That makes me remember a minor victory this week: I spontaneously ordered a small milkshake in a drive-through. I had honestly intended to just get a diet drink when we pulled in, but I saw they had a bacon-peanut butter milkshake and I had to give it a try. And it was tasty! But about halfway through, I realized that I had had enough. And I was able to keep that milkshake in its cupholder the whole way home... in the past, I would've had to pull over and dump it out, or at the very least move it to the back of the car so I wouldn't be tempted to mindlessly drink the rest of it on the way home, even though I didn't really want it anymore. But I honestly felt like I had the self-control to leave it alone- and I did.
A minor failing this week: I honestly haven't exercised at all. I'm supposed to be training for the 8K my friend Sarah and I are running in two weeks, and if I don't get it in gear soon I'm going to be walking more than half of it, and that's not what I want. I just can't seem to find the time and energy to get out there. We haven't played tennis in a few weeks, either, and the Wii is just sitting there wishing I would use it for more than a weigh-in. I've been a total slacker and it needs to stop. Hopefully I can turn it around this week and report back to you with better news in that department!
