One seems to be my lucky number! Down 1 more pound this week, for a total of 6.4 pounds lost on Weight Watchers, and 69 pounds lost overall since 3/1/12.

I don't usually like to set arbitrary goals that I have no control over, like exactly how many pounds I'm going to lose by a particular day, but you know what'd be cool? If I could hit 75 pounds (again, or maybe I should say for real this time) by Christmas, 85 pounds by my two year anniversary of starting my weight loss journey (so March 1st), and 100 pounds (probably my final destination!) by my birthday on August 1st.
It'd be cool AND it might be helpful to have a deadline to focus on, because the upcoming holidays have a way of setting me back big time. I did great last year- in fact, the week of Thanksgiving I lost a half a pound, and over Christmas and New Year's I only gained 2.5 pounds, which is well below the national average for weight gain over the holidays. And it only took me two weeks to take that holiday weight back off. But when you look at it? That's a wasted month.
Here are the things that I solemnly swear I will NOT do during this holiday season:
1. I will NOT eat to the point of being physically uncomfortable on Thanksgiving. Last year was easier because I was hosting and busy cooking most of the day, so social eating didn't really play into it. This year, I'm a guest, and that's a bigger challenge. So Amanda, do me a favor and put me to work, or at least if there is a pre-dinner snack table, chase me away from it. For the meal itself, I'm going to employ my buffet strategy of taking literally one bite's worth of everything that looks tasty, and then deciding which food is really worth going back for more of.
2. I will NOT eat food that I don't really love just for the sake of tradition. I'm honestly not crazy about pumpkin pie, but I've had a slice every year of my life on Thanksgiving. We learned at my Weight Watchers meeting today that one slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream is a whopping 14 points (I get 29 points in my daily budget). NOT worth it. I'm also not going to drink any of my points, because as much as I'd like to be all adult and sophisticated and everything, I just don't enjoy wine or any other grownup drinks. But I find myself joining in on holidays because somebody took the trouble to make it or bring it special, and this year, that's not going to happen.
3. I will NOT gain weight two weeks in a row this year. I can accomplish that if my Christmas day celebrating doesn't leak over into Christmas Eve or the day after Christmas (yummy leftovers or food-related gifts), and if I don't overdo it on New Year's Eve (watch the snacking if I go to another New Year's Day movie marathon like I have the like few years).
We'll start with those, and see if I can add a few more to the list!
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!
