There IS one explanation, and it's a very familiar one to most of you reading this blog. Let's just put it this way:
Anyway, as I said, it wasn't a perfect week. The cook came back to her post at work, so I was bumped back into a classroom and pretty miserable about it, and I dealt with that sadness by raiding the chocolate and candy jar on the director's desk regularly. She had Jolly Ranchers in there, which are only about 23 calories each, so it should have been fine.
One good decision led to another, and another, and another. It usually does. Thursday and Friday were flawless days staying on track, resisting temptation. I got a nice jog in yesterday morning during my lunch break, passed up cheeseburgers at work on Thursday, stayed out of the candy jar and kept my portions under control.
So next week, the plan is to have six perfect days instead of two. We'll see how much of a challenge that will be, as life is changing a little bit- I found a new job I'm really excited about! Remember how I wrote several weeks back that I love to cook and would really like to be a chef someday, but it's a tough industry to get your foot in the door? Well, today starts my training as an entry level Sushi Chef!
Possible new temptations...
1. I'll be working in a couple of grocery stores, so there'll be food all around me. I'll have to walk through the bakery to get to my station. But hey, cute little kids won't be shoving free cupcakes in my face on a weekly basis, so that's a plus. If this proves to be a problem, I can always leave my wallet in the car so I'm not tempted to buy any snacks as my shift goes on.
2. Part of my job will be to drive to a different story daily, to deliver some of the sushi I've prepared and set up a sample station for a couple of hours, and then drive back. So I'll be driving down a busy road with every imaginable fast food chain every day around lunch time. It helps that I really can't afford to eat lunch out most days, so maybe I'll save that as a special one-day-a-week type thing, and pack a lunch to eat in the car as I'm driving from one location to the other. I'm going to try some of the Go Picnic meals that Lindsey has been blogging about- they look pretty good. That's what I'll try to start out... we'll see if it works!
3. I will work one weekend day each week, probably Sundays, which means I'll have one weekday off every week. I need to have a strategy for these days. I've mentioned before how I rely on Chris to keep me from overeating at home... I might have a problem being home without him there to keep me out of the kitchen. Depending on the day, maybe I can get out of the house and meet my Mom at her gym for a workout there- keep both of us accountable!
I'm looking forward to reporting back next week with how I did all on of these points... cross your fingers for me.
