I spent twenty minutes composing a blog post on my phone while on vacation last weekend, and when I hit "publish" it disappeared, lost forever, and our shuttle was just pulling up to Disney World so I didn't try again. Last Sunday was my first week without blogging in almost a year and a half! It felt weird.
Vacation was wonderful but exhausting... we couldn't afford to take time off work or pay for any more hotel nights than we did, so essentially we crammed a week's worth of vacation activities into two and a half days. We did Universal, Disney World, Sea World, the beach and Downtown Disney (twice). I did pretty well, food wise! Instead of Eating All the Things on one day, I ate SOME of the things each day we were on vacation... indulging in something yummy that is hard to come by elsewhere (I had two butter beers when we were in Hogsmeade, for instance), but bypassing things that are a dime a dozen at home. I think I hit a good balance of how to vacation healthily but still treat myself.
The trip brought back all kinds of memories from our honeymoon, which was probably the best week of my life so far... but I noticed physical differences that made me very proud of how far I've come. I didn't feel cute on my honeymoon. I bought a cheap-o Mickey Mouse tee shirt to wear to Disney without trying it on, assuming that an XL would be huge on me- and it wasn't. I was worn out after three hours of walking around the theme parks we went to on our honeymoon, ready to go back to the hotel and take a nap, my feet hurting so badly that I remember we spent some serious time on the benches at Sea World, to tired to explore, just waiting for the next show. I was overeating to the point of feeling indigestion pretty much every night. Overall, I was physically uncomfortable a lot of the time.
This time was a completely different story! I felt cute, energetic, and ready for the next thing about 85% of the time. I more than kept up with Natalie, who requested a bench break of her own on our Sea World day. There is NO WAY I would've had the stamina to do as many things as we did in such a short amount of time, if I were going there with the body I had a year and a half ago.
Here I am, in December 2011:
This week, I need to focus, mostly in the evenings, on controlling my snacks and my portions at dinner. I also need to pick up some form of exercise, which will be good for my head and heart as well as my body. Send me good vibes to get back on track this week!
