Up until Thursday, I did great. In fact, I did great for most of Thanksgiving itself. I employed the strategy I outlined last week, and on my first trip up to the food table, I only took one bite's worth of everything that looked good, then went back up for anything that was really as good as it looked. I only had one slice of cake for dessert rather than cake and ice cream and pumpkin pie and a slice of cheesecake like last year. And I achieved my main goal- I did not eat to the point of physical discomfort. The meal wrapped up around 6:00 pm and we went home around 7:00 with a big bowl full of leftovers and I just felt pleasantly full. It was wonderful.
But then we came home and resumed our binge-watching of Thanksgiving-themed tv episodes on Netflix. And as we watched all those tv families talking about food, fighting about food, making jokes about food and finally stuffing their faces with it- I just got... well, not exactly hungry, because I had just had a normal sized dinner three hours prior. But I wasn't uncomfortably full, so, yeah, I could eat. And there were all those leftovers in the fridge, and hey! It was still Thanksgiving! So I had a second meal that was almost as big as the first. Whoops. In retrospect, it might have been better to stuff myself once rather than moderately fill myself twice.
And then Friday and Saturday, I didn't go crazy, but I didn't count my points. That stops right now- this week I will have a perfect week on plan, no excuses! Starting with grocery shopping for healthy dinners today. Breakfast and lunch, I have no problem counting my points because I have basically the same thing everyday, or at least the same point values. Dinners are a challenge if I don't plan carefully. I fall back on my old way of estimating calories, and WW points don't quite work like that.
That's all I've got for today- hoping for better news next Saturday!
