2/16 170.4
2/23 171.5
3/2 168.4
You may notice that all of my pre-Getting There stats are gone... while I enjoyed the weekly lengthy reminder of how far I've come, that's history now, and part of my fresh start is not resting on my laurels. What happens from here on out is what matters now.
The first order of business: I'm in the 160s! Waaaahooooo! I'm very close to the skinniest I've been since my sophomore year in high school... I remember freaking out a little bit when I noticed that I'd crossed over into 170s territory, and that was really the first time I started dieting in earnest. It didn't work, as I was on a typical sixteen-year-old's diet of SlimFast and french fries, and the weight kept on creeping up. When I lost weight back in 2009/2010, I actually got down to 166.4... for roughly five minutes, and then I started my not-so-slow journey back up the scale. I think I can do better than that this time.
What's my final goal weight? I don't really have one. I'm going to keep doing exactly what I'm doing and see where I land, trusting that my body will let me know what my ideal weight should be (and that my friends will tell me if I start looking skeletal). There's no transition to maintenance involved here, because maintenance isn't going to look any different than what I'm doing now. I think I've stumbled into what I need to do forever, and some days that feels like a challenge, and some days it feels like a comfort.
However, even without a specific weight goal in mind, there are some things I'd really love to do.
1. Wear a size 6. Right now, I'm wearing a size 10 in most brands (12 in some, 8 in others, you know how that goes.) I have a pair of size 6 jeans in my closet! This is what they look like right now:
2. A little sooner than that, I'd like to actually wear the size 8 jeans that kiiiiinda fit right now. They fit as in, I can button and zip them and they don't cut off circulation. They're just still too tight to wear with anything but the longest of long tee shirts. This is what they look like right now.
3. I'm a bridesmaid in that wedding, and my dress has been ordered. The size 14 I tried on in the bridal boutique, similar to what my bridesmaid dress will look like, fit me just fine about a month ago- WITH some heavy duty and uncomfortable foundation garments that made my back pooch out a little bit. So, if I stay the same weight from now until May, I have to live with the back pooch and the discomfort on her wedding day. If I gain, I'll have to pay for expensive alterations. But the more I lose, the more spandex I get to forgo.
4. I believe I've already mentioned I'm running in a 5K the weekend after her wedding, so I have about two and a half months to train. I want to come in under 35 minutes. When Sarah and I did the horrifically muddy 5K in October, I had to walk so much of it, and I came in at 44:11. When Amanda and I ran in our family 5K, I did it in just over 38 minutes. Katelin and I jogged just last night, and we did 3 miles in just over 36. So I think this speed goal is attainable by May... Hopefully this snow will melt soon so I can get out there and start jogging outdoors regularly again. We did an indoor track last night, and it was better than the treadmill, but outside is still my favorite way to run.
Thanks for checking in- see you next week!
