If I can be good on Christmas, that is! Therefore, I present to you my Christmas Resolutions!
The Will Nots:
1. i will not pig out on Christmas Eve day for LITERALLY NO REASON other than... well, tomorrow's Christmas and I feel holiday-ish.
2. In fact, I will keep the Bad Idea Bears out of the house altogether, so I won't repeat last year's eating-half-a-loaf-of-apple-bread-and-nothing-else-all-day-on-Christmas-Eve debacle.
4. The candy and chocolate in Natalie's stocking will NOT end up in my mouth.
The Wills:
1. I will disconnect the joy of Christmas from the joy of food. Christmas isn't Thanksgiving or Halloween or even Easter, it is NOT an "eating holiday", or at least it doesn't have to be. If the thought goes through my head "I'm allowed to have this/need to have this because it's only once a year", I need to shoot it down and remind myself that one day a week (Saturday) I get to eat whatever I want- and Christmas ain't it. I COULD just forgo Eat All the Things day today and do it on Christmas instead, but for one thing, it would be depressing to ruin a perfectly good Saturday by NOT eating all the things. And also, the things we traditionally eat at Christmas aren't even my very favorite things. I just eat too much of them most years because they are there. So I will focus on the joy of being surrounded by so many people I love, exchanging tokens of affection with them, observing how magical it is for the kids and the warm happy feeling that has nothing whatsoever to do with food.
2. I will get in a workout on Christmas, in between morning presents for kiddo and when the family arrives at 1. I honestly haven't worked out in a few weeks, but including a workout before the festivities will be a good way to focus.
3. I will man up and go to my Weight Watchers meeting on Saturday morning, even if Wednesday blows up in my face and I end up eating an entire thing of candy beans.
If you've been checking out some of our other bloggers, I've been meaning to say congratulations to both Sumerlyn and Heather, who did the hard, good work of labor and each have a beautiful baby boy to show for it. Welcome to the world, Syler and Samuel!
