There have been several times this week that my thoughts as I stepped on the scale were "as long as it's under 160 I'll be happy"... Huh... That certainly doesn't sound like the thoughts of someone trying to lose weight. In fact, those are exactly what my thoughts were like the last tie I climbed all the way up to 174. Wake up MELISSA!
Last week's post was all about how far I've come, weight aside I'm more fit and I feel better. But I really shouldn't put weight totally aside cause those numbers up there? Yeah, overweight again.
Here's the good, I have succeeded in not ingesting any caffeine all week (aside from the Excedrin yesterday), and other than missing the flavor, it's been okay. I've also gotten in 74 ounces (or just about) of water every day, which has really helped with the not missing caffeine, I don't know how I would fit my normal allotment AND the water in every day. I got to substitute teach Thursday Evening which was SO MUCH FUN, and got me moving. I went on two short treadmill runs (my legs are still not ready for anything major yet) and got my average MPH to 10:15 for both of them. Chris and I picked up our bikes yesterday, and I picked up a helmet (safety first!). And after our quick fitting (we'll go back either this week or next for a full fitting) went on our first long ride with them. 23 miles (with a stop for lunch at about the half way point), we went riding with Chris' brother Max a couple of our friends so we didn't ride fast and hard the whole way, but I did hit 24 miles an hour at one point on a flat after a downhill, which was CRAZY COOL!
The good news is, I'm in better shape then I ever have been. Which means turning this around really is just a matter of upping my activity again, and lowering my massive food intake. Really, TOTALLY DOABLE. AND... I like the way I feel when I eat healthy, I like the energy I feel. But I also really like the food I've been eating.
I know I'm not supposed to say that. I should say "I've been eating bad and I need to stop cause I don't really like eating like that all the time", but truth be told, I REALLY like eating like that all the time. I do also like eating healthy, but, man it's good to eat grease and fat and yummy goodness all week. I mean. Yeah. It's kinda like a little taste of heaven there. But... As I said, I DO like eating healthy things too. I just haven't been in the mood for any of it lately.
So here we go. Another week. Another chance. I'll continue with the no caffeine (though, I'm picking up some de-caff coffee because I do miss the taste at work, oh god, I'm one of those people now), and the water, and tracking. And I'll actually make an honest effort and eating and exercising this week, and maybe drop a couple (or one?) pound in the process.
Thanks for reading! Good luck to you this week!
